Where stories, science, and the wild rhythms of travel meet.

From a captain who’s spent decades reading weather, water, and human nature.

Welcome aboard.

I’m Captain Cary — a Lake Tahoe and San Francisco Bay mariner who spends most days helping people experience the water the right way.

I meet hundreds of people a week on the boats I captain, but I only get a few minutes with each of them. And honestly, there’s a lot more I wish I could share — the stories, the science, the travel insights, and the simple moments that make this place incredible.

This website and podcast lets me scale that connection a bit… without pretending to be an influencer or chasing algorithms. Just real stuff for anyone who wants it.

If you’re here, settle in. You’re in good company.

Captain Cary

Starting my maritime career as a deckhand in the San Francisco Bay, worked my way up to vessel command, ran my own SF Bay tours, and eventually found my way to Lake Tahoe — where I now captain boats for Tahoe Cruises at Ski Run Marina.

After decades on the water, I’ve realized people remember the moments more than the miles — the surprising things, the quiet things, and the things you don’t hear in a quick conversation aboard a boat.

This site is where I share more of those moments.
